Chantal Wells

Founder & President

My name is Chantal Wells and I am the founder of this initiative, something so close to my heart that I feel very passionate about. After studying my bachelor's degree in South Africa where I was born and raised I embarked on a journey of discovery and travel to USA to be an Au Pair for two years. Little did I know God had other plans for me. After living in Charlotte for one week I met a friend who I instantly bonded with. We became best friends discovering our new city together and making memories. Ironically we lived down the street from each other and therefore spent a lot of time together. Over that time her roommate brother and I fell in love and she is now my sister in law. My husband Josh is such an incredible man. God has blessed us with a beautiful life full of adventure in our almost 6 years of marriage. We have twin boys who will be four years old in November and most recently our little Adeline, the inspiration behind this nonprofit. Before having twins I was a STEM teacher at Idlewild Elementary in Charlotte as well as a dance teacher at the YMCA. Both positions were incredibly rewarding and I met such wonderful people that I have remained in contact with but circumstances called me to stay at home with my children. In 2020 I took on another position which I thoroughly enjoy, I became a local coordinator for Au Pair USA, a very flexible part time position at a nonprofit which I wholeheartedly support.

I'm very thrilled to be putting my plans into action with Adeline's Aid. It truly takes a village to raise children, especially a preemie with an extended hospital stay, I'm so thankful for my village. My sister took a month of unpaid leave to help take care of my twins whilst I was on bedrest in hospital and my mom immigrated as soon as she could get here shortly before Adeline was born, they are still such a major influence in our lives and make it possible to begin Adeline's Aid. Along with their selfless help I had many friends, family members and strangers help me tremendously to ensure my mental health stayed strong. I am so eager to give that same opportunity to others in need. The one guarantee on this journey is that I was changed as a person by the end of it. God has now given me the ability to advance His purposes in the world with my experience. I also got to meet the strongest fighter in the world — my preemie!

Colleen Curran

Treasurer

Hi my name is Colleen Curran. I was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. I moved down to Charlotte, NC in 2010 to start my studies at UNC Charlotte (Go Niners!) I graduated in 2014 with a degree in Sociology with a minor in Public Health. Since graduating I have used my degree to make multiple career transitions. I am currently an Office Manager for a large production Printer/Copier Company. In my free time I enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends, and long walks with my one year old ‘quarantine pup’ Porter. Being outdoors whether it is in the mountains, on the beach or walking around a city is my ideal way of spending my free time.

Adeline’s Aid is a new adventure that is very close to my heart. Having a public health degree has helped me in processing how global pandemics, such as COVID-19, truly can change the course of an individual’s life. Seeing the effects that this pandemic has had not only on the world, but more close to home has pushed me to want to help out those who have been effected. As treasurer my goal is to develop a system to financially support mother’s in need during high risk pregnancies and or after a premature birth.

Amanda Allsbrook

Chairperson

Hi! My name is Amanda Allsbrook. I’m from a small town near the OBX of NC. I’m a civil engineer and a wedding planner. I enjoy spending time with my daughter and traveling. I have lots of experience in helping raise money for charities, most recently a scholarship in memory of my late husband.

I help with Adeline’s Aid because while my circumstances are different, if I can help one person not feel so alone going through something as difficult as this, than who am I to not help. My goal is to make sure we work collaboratively and efficiently throughout our endeavors to get our mission done. I will help with continuing to develop the organization with experience and integrity.
