Almighty Acorn

Our third Almighty Acorn is the beautiful Campbell.

“We were so excited to be welcoming our first child due May 1, 2008. At my 26 week appointment, my blood pressure was very elevated. I was sent home and told to monitor it and return if it went up again. It went back up the next day so I was admitted to the hospital for monitoring for pre-eclampsia. After 3 days it became obvious that I would deliver soon so I was transferred by ambulance to a hospital with a level IV NICU. I was given steroid shots and delivered Campbell a few days later on February 3rd due to severe pre-eclampsia and fetal distress. At 27 weeks, she weighed 2 lbs, 1 oz. She spent 66 days in the NICU. She had amazing care and although it was very scary, we were blessed by a caring and thorough NICU staff. She came home at 4 lbs, 11 oz and almost immediately began being followed by early intervention. She is a graduate of speech, occupational, and physical therapies who now is in the Gifted and Talented program in her middle school and is a competitive swimmer on our high school’s swim team.” - Martha (Campbell’s mom)

Look how grown up sweet Campbell is! 💜
